Julia Shearson, Executive Director, Cleveland Chapter
Julia A. Shearson has been serving for the past seven years as the Executive Director of the Cleveland Chapter of CAIR-Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Languages and Cultures from Columbia University, a Master’s in Linguistics from Ohio University, and a Master’s in Middle East Studies from Harvard University. While at CAIR, Shearson has been working on civil rights advocacy, educational outreach and media relations. Shearson has also initiated projects to improve communication and build partnerships between law enforcement and the Muslim community. She serves on the Islamic Council of Ohio and is on the steering committee of We Believe Ohio, a statewide group of interfaith clergy and laity dedicated to social justice. She is the co-chair of the Battered Immigrant Women Subcommittee of the Cuyahoga County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council and is a board member of the Al-Ihsan School of Excellence, the only full-time Islamic School in Cleveland.
